Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has specific policies regarding ticket cancellations and refunds. Here's an overview:
Cancellation Charges:
- More than 24 Hours Before Departure: No cancellation charges apply if the booking is canceled at least 24 hours prior to the flight's departure.
- Within 24 Hours of Departure: Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure incur a fee of 10% of the fare.
Refund Processing:
- Web Tickets: Customers can request refunds for web tickets through the "My Booking" option on PIA's website. Refunds are typically processed within 3-5 working days.
- Other Tickets: Refunds may take up to 10 weeks to process, and a refund fee of C$300.00 applies. This fee is waived in cases of flight schedule changes, passenger hospitalization on the flight date, or the death of a passenger's family member.
Exemptions:
- Death of Passenger: Cancellation and no-show charges are waived upon the production of a death certificate.
Flight Delays and Cancellations by PIA:
- Delays Over 5 Hours: If a flight is delayed by more than 5 hours and the passenger chooses not to continue the journey, PIA offers a full refund for the unused ticket portion.
- Cancellations Less Than 14 Days Before Departure: For flights canceled by PIA less than 14 days before departure from a European airport, passengers may be entitled to compensation of up to €600, depending on the circumstances.
Booking Changes and Penalties:
- Economy and Business Class: The first change of booking is free if made at least 7 days before departure.
- Traveling from Kabul: Booking changes incur a fee of PKR 3,500; no-show charges are PKR 5,000; and refunds are subject to a PKR 3,500 fee. For partially used tickets, refund charges apply after deducting the applicable one-way fare.
